People

Aim: To support individuals to access opportunities to improve their income, skills and lifestyle.

Objectives:

  1. To offer support to individuals to make informed choices and access learning opportunities.
  2. To provide information, advice, guidance and support to enable individuals to access employment opportunities
  3. To improve the basic skills of people living in social housing through the provision of innovative, interesting and engaging accredited courses delivered in community locations.
  4. To offer a wide range of learning opportunities and create a clear route for progression up the skills ladder toward higher levels.
  5. To impact on lifestyles by improving the health of individuals through behavioural change programmes in identified areas.
  6. To promote healthy living through activity-based programmes for individuals and groups.
  7. To offer information, advice and support to families with debt, benefit and housing issues in specific areas.
  8. To support people to improve financial literacy through group and one-to-one training.

Current activities:

Positive Pathway/ Activity AgreementsWithin a twenty-week Activity Agreement with Connexions, this project will provide five days of activities including two days of work experience and short training courses as required.
NextStepIndependent 30-minute information, advice and guidance sessions on learning and work.
Local Employment SolutionsA programme aimed at moving participants into employment. The programme will offer a range of “routeways” into local employment opportunities that will be themed around key employment sectors in Cornwall such as “working with people” and “construction”.
Learning Plus and Cornwall CollegeDelivery of a range of learning programmes across a wide range of topics, including ICT, Assertiveness, Arts, Cookery and Skills For Life. Delivery can be tailored to suit individual or group needs. Limited support available towards childcare and travel expenses. Delivery available across Entry Levels up to Level 2.
Skills for LifeAddressing the basic skills of those at Level 2 and below. Learners will receive a one to one initial assessment which will result in them being referred to a provision to meet their needs. Programmes are available to support both employed and non employed, and delivery can occur in a range of settings from community venues to the work place.
Healthy Neighbourhoods PartnershipSupporting the most vulnerable individuals to gain access to health services and encourage them to make positive changes to their lifestyles.
Advice and GuidanceOur General Advisors provide free, confidential, independent and impartial advice on housing, debt and benefits. A key part of the service and in many ways the unique selling point is the ability of our Advisers to meet with clients in their homes.
