Places

Aim: To improve the physical and social environments of neighbourhoods.

Objectives:

  1. To develop a socially responsible and sustainable garden landscaping service in Penwith, Kerrier and Carrick.
  2. To support residents to develop and maintain the physical environments of their neighbourhoods in Penwith, Kerrier and Carrick.
  3. To develop a vocational routeway in environment and horticulture for 16 to 25 year olds in Penwith, Kerrier and Carrick.
  4. To work with partners in the private sector to develop five environment/horticulture sites within Penwith, Kerrier and Carrick as places of learning, demonstration and good practice.
  5. To research and implement the development of a garden landscaping service throughout Cornwall.
  6. To research and implement the development of social and physical environment projects to support residents throughout Cornwall.

Current activities:

CRESTAThis project aims to educate people about the environmental sector and offer them a practical insight into working in this field.
Treneere PrideWorking with the Treneere Together Partnership, this project aims to develop the area through soft and hard landscaping in individual garden makeovers and improvements to communal areas, and is supporting the establishment of a new community building. Through links with Humphrey Davy School, twelve young people will be taken on for one day a week to provide an insight into employment in horticulture and assist them to gain their qualifications.
Treneere Grow Your OwnSupport to 15 households to grow their own food.
Parc an Tansys AllotmentsAdvice and assistance in maintaining this community resource.
Potager GardensDelivery of accredited training in horticulture and development of large organic vegetable garden.
Gardening ServiceGardening service for older people run in partnership with Age Concern and the Care & Repair scheme for Devon & Cornwall Housing Group residents.
Earned ContractsResidents and community groups are able to purchase the services of the team. This includes hard and soft landscaping contracts and garden maintenance with a learning element for residents and communities.
