Introduction to the principles of criminology

Principles of Criminology is an introduction to the study of crime and the theories and perspectives which characterise Criminology.

The course will cover key issues such as how we define crime and deviance, and will also look at aspects of the criminal justice system, including prisons and community sentencing.

By the end of this course you should be able to… understand some of the fundamental concepts behind the punishment of crime.

What can I do next? This course provides a pathway into careers in policing, legal and probation work and the study of Criminology at higher education level. For example, progression to a Certificate of Continuing Education in Criminology and Criminal Justice or degree.
