Understanding Mental Health is an accredited five-week course introducing the learner to what mental health and mental ill-health mean in real terms.

The course will describe some of the ways in which mental ill-health is treated and some of the causes of aggressive behaviour and how it can be managed.

In addition, there is information on effective ways to communicate with people experiencing mental ill-health and on the main roles and functions of agencies working to help those suffering from mental distress.

What can I do next? This unit is for those interested in health and care work, community development roles and continuing into further and higher education.
