The Role

As a Learning Support Practitioner, you will support young adults taking part in the TOAST programme.

Supporting learners on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, you’ll help them to achieve their learning goals and develop independent life and employability skills. This will include English, Maths and IT skills, as well as supporting them in their vocational studies. 

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this role is currently home based, using Microsoft Teams, email and the telephone in both a project team and client-facing capacity (a laptop/mobile phone and printer will be provided).

Working alongside teaching staff, you will: 

- Support some learners with communication, behaviour, emotional difficulties and social anxiety
- Help learners to develop independent study skills 
- Take part in learner support plan reviews 
- Help to monitor learners’ progress, behaviour and commitment

About You

To join us as a Learning Support Practitioner, you will need: 

- Experience of supporting/working with learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
- A commitment to inclusive learning and the willingness to gain an understanding of students with Special Education Needs 
- A sensitive and caring approach to learners 
- The ability to work with learners in groups and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
- A Level 2 qualification in English and Maths (or equivalent) or the willingness to work towards this
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle with busines insurance 
- Access to a safe and reliable internet connection and mobile phone signal (as this role will initially be home based)
